Oliver had been skipping classes and it was time for it to come to a stop. It was the responsibility of the staff of a school like this, a boarding school, to take a more hands on approach to the students they taught and oversaw. Their parents weren't readily available to be called to the principle's office for a chat. The student couldn't be suspended for misbehavior - where would they be sent? - and skipping classes was a very clear sign that something was wrong. Especially when it was a Sphinx skipping class.
Kaden had even heard that Oliver had been skipping out on his science clubs. Something was very clearly wrong and Kaden was not the type to push it off onto someone else, as much as he'd like to nudge Jack into a more nurturing role as Head of House.
At the end of the final class, which Oliver had skipped again, Kaden went to seek him out. As the overseer, as it were, the pack leader of the werecreatures at St. Margaret's, he had an additional responsibility to make sure the weres were healthy and not susceptible to changing form in a sick or depressed rage and losing control against another student. Ashton was a prime example of that.
More than that, Kaden was a father. He genuinely cared for the well being of the kids under his care. Like most teenagers, they weren't always receptive to it, but Kaden didn't give up just because of that. He knew sometimes all a kid needed was someone to talk to.
With a bear's sense of smell, Kaden tracked Oliver down fairly easily. He didn't think Oliver would run and hide from him, but he was prepared to track him all night if that was the game the kid wanted to play. He had done it before with other students.
Coming to a stop under the tree Oliver was in, Kaden folded his muscular arms and simply waited, not speaking for a long moment.
Finally, he opened his mouth to give a command. "Down."
