Thread: What Are Friends For? WHO: Emily and James WHEN: April 9th, backdated WHERE: The resort in Hawaii
Mickey had gone back to Maine and James had stayed on in Hawaii, sending a valet to pick up Emily from the school after hearing about her and Oliver's breakup. Let it not be said that James was a bad friend. He knew all the motions. He knew that when a friend was genuinely hurting that a good friend stood by their side against whatever that hurt was. James had never had a very high opinion of Oliver, the werecat being rather dull and uninteresting for James' tastes, but even without that predisposition, Oliver had broken Emily's heart. A friend would be there for her.
And so, after having her flown to Hawaii in one of the Weatherby's private jets, James was there in person to pick her up from the small airstrip on Maui. He had been covered from the sun, but still had gone out to embrace her before ushering the girl into the town car. James' driver had taken them to the resort and on the drive, James held Emily's hand and let her talk or not talk, offering scotch that his driver kept stocked.
The hotel suite had been cleaned and fixed after Mickey's little outburst and the valet carried Emily's bags for her while James walked with a gentle touch at Emily's waist, letting her in and sending the valet away with a gesture. Once inside, he removed the sunglasses and breezy linen outer shirt, his skin as pale as ever where his arms came out the tank top. It was as casually dressed as James had been in a long time.
"Now, let's be clear." James smiled at Emily and picked up one of the two fresh blended fruit smoothies, mini umbrella and mango on a tiny spear on the rim, and passed it to her. "I won't allow you to mope around this weekend, hiding under the covers. I'm going to have to insist you enjoy yourself while you're here. Enjoy yourself and forget about that boy for a while. Anything I can do to help with that, Emily..." James gave her the drink and stroked her hair behind her ear, tipping her chin up to meet her eyes. "You'll let me know, yes?"
