Narrative: Bottled Lightning
WHO: Ben
WHEN: April 15, early evening
WHERE: Outside, towards the woods
Yesterday was the two years being a vampire. And Ben hadn't started on the reply to his sire's letter. The Sphinx thought too much as he kept his hands in his pockets as he walked away from the torn up school and towards the woods. The shadows were long as the sunset. Some days, Ben wished he wasn't a vampire. But that was the way it was and had to be. Yet it didn't mean he couldn't be angry about it.
Rolling his shoulders, he drew closer to the woods. His mind double-backed on his last encounter with James, how the fangling had invaded his mind. Ben clenched his jaw as his pace quickened.
"It was so easy," the memory of Ben smiled and sipped at the wine. "...too bad Leon was so out of it. Would have liked a squirm or that sound they make when you sink your fangs in."
Ben let out a hiss, not noticing yet the static electricity building in the air. That night, attacking Leon, was not who he was. But yet the young vampire had no clear clue either. He continued on towards the woods, each step hard and deliberate.
Far above his head, clouds were beginning to form. Ben had bottled up this anger for so long and it was becoming toxic. His pace slowed as he recalled James' second scouring of his mind that night not too long ago.
"You want to see me get dirty?" James prompted, meeting Ben's eyes again and using his power once more, scouring the other vampire's thoughts. "Oh, I'm plenty dirty, Benjamin."
At this second invasion of his thoughts, Ben reached up with his left hand and press his palm over James' eyes. "Stop! Get out of my head!"
The wind had nearly broken James' window then. But suddenly as Ben stopped just shy of the treeline, lightning struck fifty feet inside that line, giving that deafening metallic whip-crack of thunder. Ben jumped backward, blinking hard and looking where the bolt hit.
