A Siren by the Sea
WHO: Caleb & Andrei
WHEN: April 14
WHERE: Camden Wharf Beach
The desire was harder to clamp down these days, Caleb was sure of it. Singing at James' party had likely been a mistake, but the freedom it had afforded Caleb had been like finally releasing a balloon to the open air. After scouring the internet, Caleb had come across a live ships map and had coveted since. He knew it probably got him on some list somewhere, but after looking at it like someone else might gaze upon porn, Caleb slipped flip flops onto his bare feet, and headed out to the beach.
The weather was still on the winter side of spring, so the tourists hadn't infiltrated the quaint town just yet. Once he was down in the tall grasses, Caleb took off his shoes and carried them. With his earbuds in, Caleb spun to the an old classic that he really enjoyed singing. Run had been an instinct since he was a child, but the song was a nice warm up.
Walking down the sand, Caleb took a second to find another song that fit his mood. It was suitable for a lot of his life, and having recently just found it, Caleb couldn't stop hitting repeat. Unsteady poured into his ears at a low volume, and with a deep breath, Caleb began to sing. His voice carried the want, the need, the sadness that came through the song to him.
Finally, he needed something strong, something that challenged him but wasn't necessarily sad. He knew too many sad songs. Unfortunately, as he thought about the lyrics that poured out him - echos, multiple tones and all the melodies, he knew he'd failed. Still, Shots was fun. He'd sing Smoke + Mirrors later.
