Narrative: Hired and Fired
WHO: Davian Rivera
WHEN: Sunday, April 5 [backdated]
WHERE: Martin & Marvin's theater
Easter was a busy day for movie theaters. All the people who didn't go to sit in a pew on the one day a year that wasn't Christmas that they found themselves in a church typically found themselves in a movie theater folding cushy seat with a bowl of popcorn instead. Which meant the group swarming the theater that evening were generally not Christian in denomination at all, if they even professed a denomination. It was a thought that crossed Davian's mind as he kicked a paper cup down the steps instead of bending over to pick it up.
"Fuck," he muttered, holding his issued broom and dustpan across his shoulders like he himself was bearing his cross, about to be crucified. Hanging his hands from the handle, Davian looked up at the small window in the projection room where the more well paid staff members were preparing the box to play the next showing of whatever that theater room was selling tickets for. Davian's job was to clean up after the last group.
Fuck this. Why had he let Jae talk him into this?
Ten minutes later, Davian's supervisor found him curled up in the warm projection room, fast asleep to the steady hum of the computers and a pilfered tall cup of OJ from the concessions stand beside him.
They'd dragged him out by his shirt collar and kindly informed him that he was fired.
"Yeah well fuck you, too!" Davian shouted at the back door as it slammed behind him.
