Cressida at first, like most everyone, dismissed Ashton's physical symptoms as a mild cold he would eventually recover from. The occasional sneezing and coughing and complaints of aches and pains sounded pretty typical for sickness, and she concluded that Ashton, being a dragon, was simply unprepared for a sickness that wasn't limiting to humanity. Not all races were as susceptible to disease. But as the week stretched into weeks, Ashton only seemed to worsen. What she'd at first dismissed as hypochondriac behavior was growing into concern. Ashton sought out Mr. Pheres for a solution, begrudgingly so, but the centaur couldn't identify any malady at its route. Now Ashton's classroom before actually suffered and he looked more feverish and disheveled than his usually put-together appearance. So she called him to her office so she could chat with him. It could be that he only appeared to be getting worse because of his mental state, and that many of these symptoms were only psychosomatic, but it could be something more. So she would check on Ashton herself, see if any remedies she could whip up would be of help if it was something serious, and hopefully get him on the road to a quick recovery. A fresh brew of tea made of rose hips, chamomile, and a few other herbs sat ready to go. Wisely, Cressida traded her usual tea set with gold leaf in the designs for a less opulent one. She learned quickly of Ashton's attachment for gold and also how to help curb it when possible. In the right time and place, she could use that set and her chair might suffer another fall to the floor, but now wasn't the right time. She'd told Ashton to come to her office after class, just to talk and assured him he wasn't in any sort of trouble. Even doing that, Ashton didn't seem all that keen on coming to chat, but she knew he would come regardless of that. Lord Byron, from his usual place, grumbled a little, warning Cressida of Ashton's approach and she was still standing, so she made the quick walk to the door and opened it, even before Ashton could raise a hand to knock. Cressida got another look at him but said nothing except for a "Thank you for coming, Ashton. Take a seat" and then waited for him to enter. |
