The shove got Leon off, but Andrei's shirt was a casualty. The tight grip Leon had had on it caused the buttons to snap off when he was pushed into the lumber, and the plastic and metal tabs thumped against the wood that was upset by Leon's body hitting it. Leon was up an instant later, coming towards him again.
But then he stopped, looking intently at Andrei with his fists clenched at his sides.
He'd never been afraid of Andrei and he wasn't about to start now. He knew that Andrei was just reverting to his default reaction and Leon wasn't going to back down, not after what he'd just felt through their open connection. Leon didn't know that his insecurity fed into Andrei's. He didn't know that Andrei's distrust was feeding into him just the same. But he had always been the more rational, the more reasonable, the more realistic of the two of them.
"Do you want me to? Really?" He took another step closer, eyes locked on Andrei. "Because I don't think you do."
