Thread: Into the Clearing WHO: Andrei & Leon WHERE: The clearing in the woods, which will be the future sports field WHEN: The night of the 25th
Now that the field was almost cleared, Mr. Kaden was taking a hands-on approach to his supervising duties. While Andrei was good at brute force, taking down trees quickly, expediently and with something akin to respect, he wasn't a carpenter. Constructing benches and goals was a bit outside of Andrei's wheelhouse. Mr. Kaden helped, however, and he showed Andrei how it was done. There were plans, there was trial and error -- one time, Andrei ran a nail clean through his thumb -- but the work was still progressing.
As for the lesson Andrei was supposed to be learning, well... Andrei wasn't afraid of hard work, never had been. He'd been born in a farming village, after all. Killing people was hard work, as well. But, the main thing? Most of Andrei's nights -- when he was alone, at least -- were pretty boring. Nothing to distract him, not even music. And so, he got to thinking. Did he miss biting humans? Sure. Did he miss killing them? Not necessarily. Would he not have turned Leon? No. That was a choice he would not go back on. But every action has a consequence. Every act needs its penance.
Tonight, after Mr. Kaden had left, Andrei returned to the trees he'd felled, chopping them down into manageable bits and preparing them. Giving them the right shape. Andrei was shaping up to be a proper carpenter. He even smelled of sawdust, combined with the night air and the scent of the woods. Vampires didn't sweat.
Andrei, once again sporting his lumberjack outfit, turned around when he heard someone approaching.
