After Practice: Thérèse and Davian
When she touched his cheek, Davian looked up, listening to her and almost immediately denying that he loved Ambriel, but then he remembered that he thought he did. He thought he did but wasn't sure what love even was to confirm. Davian did know that he dreamed of being with Ambriel all the time, wanting to see him smile or get miffed and huff and puff and storm around before Davian shut him up with a kiss and told him he was just teasing. For the hundredth time. Ambriel always took everything anyone said so literally.
But mostly, Davian liked seeing Ambriel happy and he liked being able to make him happy. Did that mean he loved him? It was still something he was figuring out, but Ambriel's behavior lately had been making it really difficult.
"Fuck!" Davian exclaimed, then immediately apologized with a mumbled quieter "Sorry." But then the demon frowned and looked up at her, a mixture of emotions playing on his face. "I don't even know if I can... feel those feelings, much less if I'm prepared for them. I mean, I just, I... fuck." And again Davian apologized even as his head dropped to the back of the chair in front of him, his horns scratching the upholstery.
"I'm trying! I don't know how the Hell to be someone's friend, but I'm trying. He... it's like all I do is annoy him or make him pissed off and then there he goes, fluttering away like a damn angry moth and... and I can't stop him." Davian's head lifted again and he looked at her, breathing a huff up to brush the hair off his brow.
"He told me, on that day, that day with the truth shit going on, he said he always notices me, but like..." Davian rolled his eyes as he tried to think of a way to explain it to her that she'd understand and be able to help. The relationship he and Ambriel had was complicated on many layers, but one of them was the layer between their public exchanges and their private exchanges. "He doesn't want people to know, you know? That we... Just-- People would just ruin it." There was a growl in his voice as he said it, Davian's glamour shifting to show more of his true demon side, dark and sinister, a sloth demon with motivation to take whatever action necessary. It softened away a moment later.
"So I asked him, in front of the whole cafeteria, if he notices me even when other people are watching. He just kept walking away. I..." Davian threw his hands up and let them drop into his lap in defeat. "When is he going to understand himself, Teach?"
