Paxton only knew he'd hit James right on the mark when the vampire looked at him. Gone was the charming, smarmy vampire. Instead, there was the boy James used to be, frightened, bewildered and ready to fight.
Apparently, Paxton had guessed right. In the demon world, being gay was hardly an issue. Most demons were fluid when it came to sexuality and Paxton, being as inexperienced as he was, was something akin to a unicorn. Demons gave in to their lust. It was what they were known for. Taboos hardly existed.
In the human world, being gay was still a thing. Prime blackmail material, especially in the higher echelons of society. Paxton hadn't know that James' father had disapproved, or that he'd even known, but he figured that it would beget some sort of reaction from James. This was stronger than he realized, though.
Paxton's knight took the bishop. "You didn't ask me a question."
