Adrian saw the last message from Ollie and hustled to his room to grab his board. Once there, he decided for a quick change too, trading in his jeans for shorts. The temperature outside was above freezing finally, so of course that meant it was shorts weather. Adrian ran out of his dorm, his board under his arm. He jogged a bit until he got to the part of the sidewalk that was better for skating. The fairy tossed his board to the ground and jumped on it, coasting down the walkway toward the front gate.
The seasons were changing, finally. Adrian didn't have a favorite season, or least favorite. He found things to like about them all. Though he enjoyed the growth of nature during spring and summer, the winter snows meant snowboarding, which was one of his favorite things. He'd gotten to go a few times this past winter, but now that looked to be at an end. Spring would be here very soon. It was a time Adrian normally looked forward to, but this year the thaw remanded him of the eventual summer, and his return home to his fairy tribe in Mexico. He liked his home and his family, but he didn't like their pressures on him, their expectations of how he would have to live his life. Sometimes he wished he could be an ordinary kid and not have to worry about serious things. He wanted to have fun, to goof off, to be normal for a little while, whatever that even meant. To Adrian, normal meant an afternoon boarding with Ollie.
He saw him ahead, thin blond-headed form, doing a trick on his board. Adrian put his foot to the ground a few times to gain speed and catch up. "Don't fall!", he called out cheekily, pretty sure that the experienced boarder wouldn't.
