It was cold. Too cold. Often times Alex thought this but his pampering in mild California weather was a major factor in that. Davian always made fun of Alex saying his blood was really thin, and Alex wasn't going to argue. But Alex always returned that he was the Diet Coke of humans and that could be just as much of a problem when it came to vampires. Thankfully no vampires made a move to take a bite out of Alex, but that likely had to do with the fact Alex paid a reasonable price for something to keep vampires from getting any funny ideas. Alex wasn't exactly burly or the type of person to be able to defend himself. The most defensive thing he knew how to do was operate a can of mace and Taser, neither of which he was likely to be allowed to carry on his person nor be all that effective against the sorts of things that roamed the school freely. Sometimes when he stopped to think about it, the entire situation was just so incredibly bizarre. Before being awakened to his "ability," Alex was just some punk kid who went to school with other kids and everything was normal. He partied, had friends, lived his life. Then suddenly his world was upside down and taking naps turned into something dangerous. Then he was sent to a school where things like demons and vampires actually existed. It was like getting tossed into a young adult novel which was great for some teenage girl with a need for an escape but more of an inconvenience to someone like Alex who never sought it in the first place. Sure, he made friends at the school, but it was still startling at times to Alex. He adapted as he could but nothing could take away from the strangeness of it all. Alex made sure he spent as little time possible outside and so he often found himself seeking refuge for warmth in strange places. This time he ended up in the Hydra dorm, a place he didn't intend to stay long. There were a lot of people he didn't like in this dorm. Number one was a toss-up between Ashton and Leon, both of which had put his life in danger. Leon actually seemed sorry about it, whereas Ashton felt he taught Alex some sort of lesson. If he taught Alex anything, it was reaffirming what he already knew: people with a lot of power tended to abuse it. Alex was still trying to figure out how to get back at that moron with a god-complex. Rubbing his hands together, he glanced up to see the new girl coming into the foyer. Alex and Fred had a brief exchange over the network and they got along fairly well. Sharing a home state and a similar line of thinking tended to bond people and it was nice for Alex to have someone around that knew what they had to walk away from "'sup?" Alex said in greeting with a nod of his head. |
