The alarm went off on Alex's phone and he looked at it. Time to practice the whole "out of body" thing again. He groaned, wanting to ignore it like he had been the last couple of days, and then most of the week before, but he concluded he should just get it over with. With a sigh of resignation, he went through the motions. Alex didn't often go into the spirit world on purpose, but he was there to learn and the only thing really halting the progression of his abilities was Alex himself. He was lazy, which was probably why he and Davian were such good friends, and often came up with excuses of other things to do that were better uses of his time. The chants were boring, and repeating them over and over again was always a dull process. But going into the spirit world always felt the same. One second he was in his body, the next he wasn't. Simple as that. Alex's spirit was now out of his body and he looked around for that girl that had been hanging around lately. She was weird and spoke like she was from another time period. She probably was, too. She wasn't there though and Alex shrugged it off for now. He didn't really want her around because she was creeping him out. She seemed to always be hanging around when he went into the spirit world lately, and her absence should make Alex wonder, but he was too happy to have her not around to think about that. Instead he looked to the bamboo's spirit that seemed to respond to him as he came closer and reached out to touch it. He noticed a little black fleck on it though, and Alex reached out, grabbed it, and flicked it off without a second thought. The first inclination that something bad was going to happen was ignored, and the second manifested itself with the question, "What color do you think you look best in?" Alex spun around half-scared, half-surprised to see the girl standing there. She stared at Alex, expecting an answer and he shrugged at her, "Look, I dunno. Why do you care, bae?" "My name is Edith," the girl responded. Alex replied flippantly, "Whatever, Edith. Why do you care?" "I'm just curious," she said and Alex frowned at her but answered, "Red." "Okay," she replied and walked through a nearby wall somewhere else. Alex paused for a moment, thinking her question was weird and then decided that she might very well be a stalker. A stalker that maybe was looking for something for him to wear in red. Shaking his head, he muttered to himself, "Crazy bitch." He only got two warnings and he'd ignored them both. Alex felt strange when he returned his attentions to the bamboo planet, and then he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. As he turned his head to see what was going on, he found himself gazing in the direction of his body. Normally it was just sitting there stiffly in a pose his grandfather taught him was best to prevent injury, but now there was something moving into it. The thing was Edith, and she was climbing into his body. "What the fuck!?" Alex shouted and went pushing forward but the girl was either good at possession or she'd watched him too many times to figure out how to do it herself. He saw his body accept her spirit, the empty husk now possessed by a female ghost and his body was moving. Alex's mannerisms were definitely more typically feminine. His walk had a little sway to the hips and the shoulders rolled back a little more like it was trying to show off what breasts it didn't have. Alex wasn't really observing this though, because he was rushing at the body and trying to dig in to rip the girl out. The only problem was he didn't know how to do it and this girl was determined in whatever she was doing that she held a vice-like grip on his body. Curses in a variety of languages at his disposal came rushing out as he followed her around, trying to pull her out. But it was no use, she was now starting to dig through his closet and pulling out items he could only assume were red. Colors had a funny way of working in the spirit world and some colors were so strange they were beyond description. Much of what Alex wore bordered on more feminine in style, and he actually owned a few shirts that were from the girl section of the stores he shopped at. His slim figure fit them well, and he really only lacked the chest for the shirts, and well, down below he had some extra bits that made wearing tight pants a daring feat. "Bitch, gimme back my body," Alex said angrily, "The power of Christ compels you!" He tried to hit his body but he just stumbled through. He turned around and she was still musing over things. As she began undressing him, she looked over the figure as well, hands running over the smoothness of his chest and then over his bottom as well. She then looked over the front of his pants and frowned, saying to herself, "Well, he likes boys too." "WHAT?!" Alex practically shrieked and started shouting more adamantly, "HEY! BITCH! SERIOUSLY! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BODY!" But she was ignoring him or she just couldn't hear him. She slipped on a pair of tight pants that showed off how skinny his legs were, but looking now, Alex realized it gave him something of a bottom. He frowned and then noticed as she put the studded belt on and then went rummaging through his drawers for a shirt. She found a simple T-shirt and pulled it on, looking at the way it fit and Alex clawed at his own face. This was bad, this was so very bad. She rolled the sleeves up to her arms and then went into his bathroom, looking over the makeup supplies there. Alex laughed, "Ha! You don't know what the hell you're doing, bitch. No way you're going to—" he was cut off as she began applying the eyeliner and then adding some mascara next. His face contorted into new shapes of horror as she went about applying make-up that he normally wore for costumes or if he wanted to accent his eyes more since they were kind of small to begin with. By the time she was done, he looked more girlish than he ever had before. Edith combed his hair down a bit and then braided a little bit of the front. She took a barrette he normally used when he was trying to bleach parts of his hair to keep the braid in place. She posed in front of the mirror a few times, blowing kisses and then adjusting the pants to hang a little low so it showed off a little bit of his stomach. Alex continued to make attempts to get his body back, but each time he was met with disappointment. He was, however, starting to wonder what exactly Edith had planned. She took great pains to make Alex look nice (in a way) and it creeped him out how well she knew where everything was. She'd been stalking him all right, and Alex was completely wrong about her motivations. She wasn't hanging around because she liked him or anything, she was following him so she could body snatch. She was content now and then went walking out of the room. Alex followed after her, groaning each time she gave a little giggle when someone commented how nice "he" looked. They then had that expression of confusion because of this, and they were starting to pick up on the fact that Alex was sure acting weird. But did any follow to ask what was going on or if he was alright? Nope. Not a single one. Edith came into the dining hall and took a seat like she was waiting. Alex looked at the clock, knowing that dinner would be served soon. His intentions of a quick stroll around the room was now turning into a tour of the school's spirit version. If he hadn't been chasing his body down, he might have stopped to notice how interesting it was, and how different it appeared. Instead, he was focused on the only mission of importance: evicting Edith and getting his body back. What happened afterward would be handled once he was back in control and felt secure. The time ticked away and Alex sat across from Edith, glaring at her. "You think this is funny? You think this is cool? This fucking messed up. You're taking a person's body. Hey, psycho." He waved a hand in front of her, but she didn't notice. Her eyes fixated on the door as students began walking in and the tables were filling up. Alex stood up and came to stand before her, "Look, bae, I get it, you're dead, but you know, you had your chance at life and that's my body. Someone is going to notice something is wrong eventually, and they're gonna force you out. Then they're gonna send you to wherever crazy bitches should be sent when they die." "Oh," she said, but Alex knew it wasn't in reference to him. He followed her gaze to the door and saw some students walking in. A few faces he recognized but he couldn't figure out who just yet. He looked back to see her rise up and straighten her appearance, his friends who normally sat with him (and whom she ignored the whole time) looked confused by this. Sauntering over in the direction of the door, Alex watched as she came to stand before Paxton. Davian's brother. "Hi," she said in Alex's voice which wasn't quite deep but wasn't all that high. It was somewhere in the middle. She reached up to touch Alex's hair near his ear shyly and looked down and then up at him again, "I've been watching you for a while. You're the most handsome boy I've ever seen." She went on a bit, talking about how intelligent he was and that he was clearly the cutest boy in the school. The entire time Alex was standing there, frozen and watching the entire scene transpire. He couldn't seem to move. His spirit was stationary, watching and then it happened. Ever since discovering his ability, Alex was always afraid some malevolent spirit would take control of his body. That it would go on a murderous rampage and hundreds would die. But he realized now that such a thing happening wasn't all that likely to ever happen. No, the true threat came in the form of a teenage spirit with a crush on a demon. A demon that she was now touching the shoulder of and then forcibly bringing down the lips of Paxton to crash against Alex's in a kiss. "Fuck. My. Life," Alex said. |
