Adrian and Lucia
Lucia saw people gathering in the ballroom and had curiously flitted inside on the wake of another group. She quickly found a place out of sight to watch, not wanting to disturb the proceedings, and her bright large eyes took everything in. The treats interested her first and while people were chatting at the tables one with another, the white haired faerie girl slipped over to the table and filled her pockets with treats for later, adding a cookie to hold between her teeth before flitting off again to station behind a large marble pillar.
Lucia's gaze darted from table to table as she munched the cookie, smiling when she saw laughter, leaning in when she saw frowns. But what really caught her attention was when the sound of a bell rang out across the room.
The faerie stood up straight, the cookie forgotten, and her attention fixated on Adrian and the bell in his hands. The fairy boy from the rainforest with the name from so many places! She knew only that much about him, as he had not been too keen on sharing in their brief network conversations. The response from the others at the sound of the bell fascinated Lucia and she waited for the other students to stop shifting all around and settle again before she drifted closer to Adrian.
Lucia approached Adrian from behind, knowing he had not seen her yet because his wings were telling her he was mostly at ease. She drew closer and closer, retreated six steps, then drew closer again.
Finally Lucia stood side by side with the fairy boy, mimicking his stance, but her wings were safely sheathed in their tiny buds on her back and her sweater with its bloom of handmade flowers covered them. She glanced at him, then smiled. "Where did you get the bell?"
