Thread: Curiouser and Curiouser
WHO: Lucia & Thierry
WHEN: Feb 4, after moonrise
WHERE: Sphinx dorms, The woods
"Don't go out on the full moon. Don't go out on the full moon. Don't go out."
The faerie was chanting to herself as she moved up and down the halls of Sphinx dorm. She'd pause at the end where a big window opened up to view outside, then she'd turn and walk all the way to the other end of the long hall only to turn around and repeat. She could hear the wolves howling at the moon and it drew her back to the window.
"Don't go out, they said." She held up one finger, shaking it sternly at her reflection in the glass. "Don't do it. The weres are out. Weres eat mice. Dangerous. No, Don't go out." Turning to walk away again, she marched back towards her own door, leaving cold spots on the floor where she stepped.
The Winter Faerie was dressed like any normal human girl in the middle of the night might be. She had dark leggings and long fluffy socks with pink slippers. Her hoodie all but swallowed her small frame. Even in her big form, Lucia was dainty and petite. Her complexion was like that of an albino, but her eyes were crystal azure. Lucia's hair was pure white, as were her eyebrows and eyelashes, and her skin was like talcum powder.
The rules of the school had been explained to her and she understood them, had promised to obey, and that was that. Now, however, the mystery of what lay out there was starting to drive her crazy. Winter Faeries, like most fae, had a very passionate streak and Lucia's passion was curiosity. She wanted to know the answers to all the unknown things, and after talking to a couple weres and others in her journal introduction - like one fairy boy who seemed to not want to talk, much to her disappointment - Lucia's curiosity was brimming over.
"Don't go out." She said again and nodded firmly, reaching for her doorknob. "Don't."
A moment later, the window in the hallway was cracked open and a trail of faerie dust led to her room and the pile of clothes she left behind when she shrank into her faerie form.
No bigger than a wasp, Lucia darted out into the night, large eyes wide with wonder. She made the sound of bells as she flew, like all of her kind, and as she rose above the trees and darted over them, the branches became heavy with frost and bent in the direction her flight took her.
Lucia scanned the ground below and when she spotted the first were of the night, she zipped down and hid in the branches to watch, trembling with excitement and the knowledge that she was about to discover something wonderful.
