Ashton's gaze slid over to the demon when he leaned closer and the tension in the dragon's jaw was pretty clear. He didn't incline his head or indicate permission for Paxton's observation, but he didn't have to. The demon proceeded without it.
Ashton's lips pulled back in a sneer, showing his teeth in a threatening move. The only thing worse than admitting to and owning up to his own flaws was having someone else point them out to him. The dragon was not practiced in patience or taking what he deemed as a slight from his fellow students in stride and letting them have it. He was not practiced because he didn't find the use in humility.
So his fingers closed like claws in Paxton's shirt and he growled deep in his throat, pulling the demon closer. "Perhaps you should not make observations."
