"Equals but arguing different points. Neither proving or disproving our side. Not winning and not losing." Ashton mulled this over, folding his arms and slowly leaning back on his chair. His eyes moved over Paxton when he slid his chair closer, but the dragon didn't retreat to recreate the space between them. He wouldn't retreat for the likes of this demon, that was ridiculous.
If it wasn't that Ashton could see the validity in both nurture and nature, he would have had more of an issue with not winning the upcoming debate. But he liked to think of both as equal factors. It only grated him that he'd have to let Paxton have one side, when the dragon wanted to have both. Have both and win both.
"Very well. By not winning or losing the debate, it will further entrench the idea that both points are of value, as I said. Provided I will not lose points on my grade for not defending my side against yours, I will do this your way."
Ashton reached forward and pulled a book from the stack he'd brought, flipping to the index for the chapters with Hobbes to start building an argument in favor of Nurture. "Your story was chosen for the production," he said with a flicker of tension around his mouth, but he didn't look at Paxton this time. "I wish to read it."
