Unlike Ashton, Paxton was quite pleased with his debate partner. Ashton was interesting, more so because he was a dragon. Like all demons who grew up in a traditional commune, Paxton responded to power. Demons liked power, especially if it seemed like they could use that power. Paxton suspected that, perhaps, like all power, Ashton wasn't easily controlled. But using a dragon? Or even tempting a dragon? That could be interesting.
Paxton hadn't failed to notice that Ashton hadn't congratulated him. A sore loser. Fascinating.
Ashton sat down and Paxton took the seat next to him. Whereas Ashton had to force himself into the shape of the chair, Paxton owned it, his thin, limber frame draping itself onto it. He smirked at Ashton, his nimble fingers playing with a book, flipping the pages. "Even ridiculous assignments have some merit. A good grade for one."
Paxton's eyes fixed themselves on Ashton, mirth playing in them. "But I'm not engaging in this debate with you like this. We both want a good grade. So first, you've got to pick a side."
