"Leon, seriously, I just—" Lilie started to stand and moved to intercept him. She knew the subject was sensitive, but she just wanted to know one more thing. Something that she wanted to be able to—no, she couldn't tell Mickey about it because he might get mad she was talking to Leon about it at all. But maybe Lilie wanted to know what Mickey might be walking into when he came to talk to Leon. So that she would know how fucked up or at peace he might be after they spoke.
Lilie looked Leon right in the eyes, "Is there any hope for you two? If Mickey were to talk to you again, if he were to—I don't know, if he were to feel bad about how it ended and want to fix things . . . could you two fix it? You obviously still care about him, and let's be honest, Leon, we both know he cares about you. Is there no turning back? Is there any hope at least for friendship if not something more?"
She was rooting for whatever was possible in the realm of reality. Even if it was over romantically, could there be hope for something else someday? For how much they cared about each other, she wanted to hope that they could figure this out, but it may be too late for reuniting. She didn't know and she wouldn't know until it was all said and done. But she wanted to know what Leon was thinking.
Her blue eyes searched his for anything that could tell her what was happening in his head, especially if he didn't say anything back.
