Jack clenched his teeth together, shooting James a dark look. If it had been up to him, Ben would've gotten a more severe punishment. Jack had no particular love for vampires and demons, a prejudice he was aware of. Which is why he listened to the Headmistress. She was more impartial than he was. Wiser.
"Mr. Proctor was punished," Jack said, doing his best to stand by the Academy's decision. "He has been punished, counselled and given detention. That is just. If someone on the outside disagrees, they can take it up with the Headmistress."
Jack saw James rise, an urge rising to make him sit back down, to have wait still. Jack realized he had no cause, however. "That's all. I expect you will leave Mr. Proctor alone. Correct?"
