Jack raised an eyebrow, not about to be outmanoeuvred by some students when it came to words. "A warning and a death threat are not mutually exclusive things. This?" Jack gestured at the mutilated doll. "Look a hell of a lot less innocent than mere warning."
He met James' gaze head-on, narrowing his eyes. "It's a good thing, then, that the students here don't decide on the punishments. The teachers do. And if you think it's easy, having your freedom stripped from you... Well, I merely hope that you'll never find out how easy it exactly is."
The teacher realized he had to get a grip. This wasn't the time to go ranting. This was about consequences. "You won't be serving dungeon detention. Instead, you'll help out the Groundskeeper. I imagine he could use your help shovelling snow in the mornings."
