Thread: Demonic Errands
WHO: Jae & Davian
WHEN: Dec 6, Saturday 10am
WHERE: Police Station, around Camden
Saturday had come back around and Davian had to pull himself out of bed on his own volition to get up early enough to head to Camden to meet with his Parole Officer. It was bad enough that he was being forced to see the guy once a week for a check up or face serious jail time, but now he had all the more reason to hate the human for giving Dallas the go-ahead to let him go to Atlanta for the holidays. What the fuck, when's a bro gonna have his back? He didn't even ask him if he wanted to go, just assumed Dallas had already done that, or maybe he hadn't, maybe he and Dallas were in talks and this was some big joke to them.
Whatever. Demons didn't celebrate Christmas for obvious reasons. Not in the traditional Christian sense. Davian was both curious and wary to find out what Dallas' sister's commune did for the holidays that seemed pretty contrary to celebrate anyway. In Las Vegas, Davian had learned to keep his head down that time of year. The higher ranking demons were always on a power trip and low life's like him got stepped on. Davian was not looking forward to repeating that kind of thing back at Lori's commune, and much preferred to remain at the Academy, even if he had been itching to get out and go somewhere cool like the other students always got to do.
Besides, Ambriel was at the Academy. Nuff said.
Coming with him into town that day was Jae. Davian liked Jae. He liked her a lot. She and he had both been through the mines together and before that, had tried to hide from their worst nightmares in a closet with each other. There was something about sharing cells and cubbies while Demon Lords, Shaman Hunters, and then crazy Warlocks were trying to pick you apart that really brought some of the strangest people together. He still thought she was way too uptight, but he'd work on changing that. Jae was, by all definitions of the word, his friend. It was a refreshing change from thinking people like Caleb were what friends were. While Jae still sometimes scared the shit out of him and had to pester him relentlessly to get him to do things, she never talked down to him or made him feel less than he already felt about himself, and Davian was learning that that was the kind of person he would put the effort into hanging out with and looking out for. Ambriel had taught him that.
Well, some effort. But some effort was better than none.
They walked together up the steps of the police station and Davian made it a point not to tell her why they were there. He acted casual, like going into the police department was just another fun Saturday activity. Later they'd be getting pizza and OJ and Davian wondered if he could get her to sneak into a movie with him. Nice dark theaters where he liked to curl up sometimes and sleep if the movies got too boring or his attention span waned.
Davian's tail was wrapped around his waist under his clothes and he wore a beanie on his head to cover the jagged stumps of his horns. The cold was kept at bay by a few layers of shirts and hoodies with an old fisherman's vest on over that that looked like it had come straight off of someone's boat at the docks. And maybe it had. "Brace yourself. This place smells like piss." he warned Jae with a smirk before jerking open the door and trudging inside.
