Ashton was standing not far from Daniel, dressed in his gym clothes and prepared to go out for soccer practice on the newly repaired - thanks to Barclays druid magic - athletic field where he'd made a mess a few nights earlier. His shirt was a plain black t-shirt and Ashton carried his cleats over one shoulder, regular athletic shoes on his feet and soccer shorts with a windbreaker. It was chilly outside.
He had heard the boy speaking excitedly into his phone and that had drawn his attention at first, but then the scent of the other student had made the dragon pause. He was no human. But Ashton couldn't identify the smell. It was only vaguely familiar. He knew of Daniel, though had not met him in person. It was not a huge school and chances were they had at least passed ways in the halls, if not shared classes, and Ashton cocked his head at the other boy when Daniel whirled around in his chair as though confronting an attacker.
Frowning, brows drawn together at the reaction, he spoke calmly. "Did I startle you?"
