Barclay and Adina
Adina tried hard to hold in her smile at his assessment of nymphs. "You're sure they aren't in every plant? I heard that when a plant takes life nymphs are born within it...to protect and nurture it...give it a spirit. Who do you think you hear talking and whispering? Those are nymphs Barclay, they don't often generalize that they're different from the plant itself. They're a playful sort...they think it's funny." He thought he knew better but...he didn't...she knew better. She had first hand knowledge, "Also since plants need water to survive they say that sometimes water nymphs are there as well...I mean they can...it's not recommended though. Just like nymphs don't want to end up as a beverage." She chuckled, "Do you have any idea how ancient nymphs are...no one knows when they first came about. And the crankiness...nymphs can be cranky...they aren't all obsessed with sex that's a common misconception." At that she crossed her arms...that was always a sensitive subject. Now he got a brief lesson in nymphs...now he's gonna ask how she knows...damn it.
"A water witch, sure...that works," Adina had never thought of just telling people she was a witch...she supposed she'd like giving a half lie...she was human...part human. At his grin she twirled a strand of her curled hair around a finger, "Not really...I can't do much and what I can do I can't hold very long. I need to practice more. I hope you don't find me annoying. You seem nice."
At his mention of the haunted house her smile fell and her eyes widened again in fear. There could be vampires in there...real ones...using the haunted house as a cover to feed on innocents like herself. But she supposed...Barclay seemed unafraid. Also he was powerful...part of her wanted to find Ambriel to see if he would go with her...protect her, but she hadn't seen him that night. Maybe Barclay would be just as good, "I suppose...that is...if you'll go with me and not mind if I grab onto your arm if I get scared?" She gave him a hopeful smile.
