Jack moved as Caleb answered the question, his long finger picking a tome that was cloth in a deep blue-green. He took it and started flipping through it, almost absently saying: "It has never been proven, has it, that it is a siren's song that is lethal? Most people theorize that is is merely tempting, something that causes people to lose all interest, safe for that one beautiful song..."
Jack nodded, apparently having found something in the book that he agreed with. He then looked at Caleb, giving the boy a vague smile. "If you're looking for condemnation, you've come to the wrong place. While your act wasn't noble, perhaps, wanting freedom when it has been taken from you is an understandable reaction."
Jack returned to the desk, putting the book on it. "A siren's song can have many purposes. Temptation. Solace. Memories. When do you sing, Mr. Blackburn? When does the siren come out?"
