Narrative/Thread: A Prayer WHO: Ambriel (& OPEN?) WHERE: The chapel WHEN: Monday morning, the 22nd
The angel left his flipflops at the chapel door. Silently, he walked through the empty pews, making his way to the altar. The chapel had been largely unaffected by the savage attacks of last week, though one of the windows had been broken. The Groundskeeper had told Ambriel that it would be fixed in due time. He had repeated this line the third and fourth time Ambriel had asked, and the fifth time, he had been quite snappish about it. Ambriel had asked the Lord to forgive him and his Slothful ways. Surely the chapel was more pressing than fixing the rest of the Academy.
Ambriel had offered his help to the teachers, but he wasn't any good at seeking or even finding. He was a Soldier, not a Scout. As such, the angel could do nothing but pray and he was sure that his prayers would not be heard. The angel knew that all of this was his fault. He had asked the Lord to take the temptation of Davian away, and, in His infinite wisdom, the Lord had. Ambriel realized now that it had been a foolish request to make. He was to resist temptation himself. It is why the Lord had taken more than Ambriel had bargained for, to show him the error of his ways.
And so, the angel was kneeling in front of the altar, offering himself in humility. His wings were spread out, their tips touching the marbled floor. In Latin, the angel whispered: "My Lord, I ask for Your forgiveness. Like with David and Bathsheba, the fault was not with the temptress, but to him who fell for it. I know this now."
Ambriel folded his hands and closed his eyes. "Please deliver them back unto us. Not just Davian, but also Bushara, Caleb, Ms. Edouard... all of them. They should not suffer for my sins. Please, I beg of you. If you return them to us, I shall not sin again. I shall not lie with with Davian again. It is not his fault. It is mine."
The angel looked up, a ray of sunlight coming through the broken window. Ambriel thought it was a sign. "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. Amen."
