Adrian was right and Ashton was instantly on the defensive at the question, prepared to bark at the fairy that it was none of his concern. When Adrian explained more, it caused the dragon to pause and consider, surveying Adrian's weakened form with a growing sneer. "No. It would kill you. It would turn you to shriveled bones!" And Ashton wouldn't admit to Adrian that his kind, the draconic race, were weak against the fae. Using his life element on a fairy, sapping his essence, it could very well just weaken him or worse.
Truthfully, Ashton had not had much practice with his element. He had used it as a youngling dragon, a hatchling playing and experimenting with his food, growing frustrated with the lumbering cows were faster than him on the ground. After being warned by Ms Menides after the garden of Ladon incident, Ashton had not tried it again, not even in his fight under the waves with Andrei.
"You, why have you not transformed and flown between the bars to reach the escape?" Ashton had witnessed Anna, before she left, fly between the iron bars of the dungeons of St. Margaret's in her fairy form and his eyes narrowed suspiciously at Adrian now as he thought about it. "Do you want to stay here forever?"
