Thread: Fright Night WHO: Everyone! WHERE: All over school WHEN: Monday the 15th, during dinner OOC: Tag yourself in!
Ms. Menides was a woman of few vices, but she did permit herself a glass of red wine during dinner every evening. She took a sip. Like most teachers, Ms. Menides lingered after dinner, chatting with the other teachers as the students vacated the tables, leaving behind dirty plates, askew cutlery and half-eaten dishes. While there were always a few stragglers -- students who'd come in late and who'd be only starting desert; students who clustered in groups to gossip or talk about assignments -- most students retreated to their dormitories, the library or, when the weather was still nice, to the quad outside. Soon, Ms. Menides realized, it would be too dark out for that. Winter was coming. Hadn't summer just started?
Ms. Menides was shaken out of her contemplations by Jack, who was joking around with another teacher. She grinned and looked about the room. She liked her school best when it had just started, everyone still fresh with the hope of a new year.
She blinked, feeling her eyes blur over, and then frowned. Surely she hadn't had that much wine? Ms. Menides felt it go to her head and she rose, intent on finding Mr. Pheres. She knocked over her glass. Teachers took notice, Jack rising to his feet and asking: "Are you alright?"
Ms. Menides tried to formulate an answer, but her tongue wasn't cooperating. Jack watched in horror as the Headmistress toppled over, collapsing to the floor. "Get Mr. Pheres!"
The dining hall had gone quiet, save for the footsteps of an obedient student running off to fetch the centaur. Jack rolled the Headmistress over, looking on her face. She was out cold. What..? Jack looked up. A snowflake had landed on his brow. He saw others looking up, surprised by the snow coming from the ceiling. The Wendigo, it's returned, it's got to be...
With a loud crash, the doors burst open. Something monstrous crawled inside, something that looked like it had crawled out of the depths of the earth. It skittered around on far too many legs, like a gargantuan centipede, and it was eerily quiet, looking around the dining hall shrewdly. It opened its maw. That's when the screaming started.
The school grounds erupted in mayhem. A blood red moon rose in the air, blotting out the sun, casting the school in an unearthly light. By the woods, some trees stirred, coming alive with branches that clawed at the living. A ring of ghostfire sprang up around the Pegasus dorm, while the Hydra dorm was descended upon by a swarm of wasps. At the parking lot, a cobra appeared, larger than a minivan. Within a few minutes, St. Margaret's Academy had descended into sheer chaos.
