Davian's and his NPC neighbor
Why the fuck did alarms have to be so damn loud? Was the first thing Davian thought as he stirred from his bed to see what was going on. He smelled smoke, but then he'd just been smoking in his room and didn't think much of it until he got to the door and jerked it open. Smoke filled the hallways and he retreated back, pulling his shirt up over his mouth and nose with a muffled, "Fuck!"
There was a serious fire in the dorms and he couldn't tell which direction it was, but stepping out into the smoke filled hallway, he could hear it eating up the wood with menacing cracks and snaps, the hungry flame devouring everything dry that was in its path. "The Hell happened?" he asked someone running by.
"There's a fire coming from Kana's room! We're supposed to evacuate!"
A fire from Kana's room? Davian only knew the quiet girl as the one who had sat next to him on the beach and made him clothes. He looked the direction of her room, unsure if she'd made it out already or not, and he was kicking himself internally even before he took his first steps towards her side of the dorm.
"Goddammit fucking owing people who are suicidal and homicidal and fucked up in the head." He growled, pausing only to rip the side of his shirt into a makeshift bandanna to wrap around his face and filter the smoke so he could breathe. Then he was moving again. Davian didn't know anything about Kana's fire powers or that there was a fire djinni already on the case. He did know about his own abilities, though. The fact that Kana had given him a gift was the only reason the sloth demon was moving down the hall to try and help her. No other reason than that, he reaffirmed with a nod, eyes watering in the smoke.
There were shouts coming from behind one of the doors he passed as he drew closer to Kana's room. Hers was the next one down and fire licked at the walls, but didn't touch the demon who walked among them. Someone was trapped in a nearby room and Davian rolled his eyes. Why were people such fucktards? Kana, and repaying the gift, would have to wait another second.
He had to shoulder his way through the door, something jamming it from the other side, but he got inside the person's room and saw the kid, some new student, huddled under his desk and looking fear stricken. Davian walked through the fire, bending it away from himself. "Hey!" he shouted over the sound, "Hey, dumbass! Grab my hand!"
The boy shook his head and huddled further out of reach and Davian swore again, needing to crawl under, tail swishing in annoyance, and grab him by the shirt to physically drag him out. "You're going to die in here if you stay, genius." He was rewarded with frantic thrashing, a punch to his jaw and a heel to his gut, but Davian hauled the boy over his shoulder and turned to leave, pushing the fire out as he walked with a hand extended. He'd have to bring this kid out first and go back in for Kana, since he wasn't strong enough to carry both, but he could put out fire along the way.
The hall that had once been engulfed in flames was now just a blackened smoking mess as Davian carried the kid out. He got rid of him as soon as he could, before anyone noticed him carrying the boy, dumping him near a Kitsune House mentor who was taking a head count outside. No one needed to know he'd pulled this kid out. It'd destroy his carefully cultivated image.
