Leon felt something stir him awake. He laid still, listening with his eyes closed and made sure he could still hear the crystal. Andrei crossed his thoughts, and not for the first time. It was silly to worry about a vampire who was more than capable of taking care of himself, but Leon hadn't heard from him or seen him in almost three weeks and it felt odd.
He tried to brush off the wandering thoughts, knowing he could find out how Andrei was later, once he was rested, but he couldn't seem to settle his mind again.
And then Andrei spoke.
Leon turned and looked at him, relieved and anxious to see him again. Had he felt him? "Andrei..." Out of anyone, Andrei understood why he'd done what he did. Protect your own. It would be a nice contrast in Menides' lecture, but a closer look at the vampire's face and Leon knew he was wrong. Andrei did understand protecting your own and that was why he was there.
Guilt and remorse flooded the voodooist that he'd caused Andrei any kind of pain or worry with his actions. If the bond could reach everywhere, then Leon knew he must have felt some very dark things. "I'm sorry."
