Later...
Other than his daily check-in's to monitor the healing of his arm, Daniel had been told to come see Mr. Pheres if he needed anything, if the pain got too bad. He hadn't intended on doing that. He wasn't some weak weepy schoolchild. He could handle his pain, or at the very least, he was going to put on his bravest face in front of these people he really didn't know at all.
It wasn't the pain that had finally gotten to Daniel as much as the nightmares. He'd thought the first night had been a fluke, but then last night had been even worse. The lack of rest and good sleep was affecting his mood during the daytime, which already wasn't great. If Pheres had something that could help him sleep without nightmares, he would accept it.
The eagle wasn't expecting anything out of the norm as he entered the infirmary. He pushed the door open with his good arm. He was still dressing simply, finding no reason to take the extra effort to wear something that would take a lot of work to put on. Tonight, it was basketball shorts, a sleeveless tee, and flip flops. Daniel walked toward the healer's desk, where he often saw him, but didn't see him anywhere within sight. Instead, he noticed the boy, the boy with the dreadlocked hair who Daniel had not seen awake, despite the time he'd spent in the infirmary so far. When Daniel had first arrived, Pheres had been splitting his time between Daniel and looking after the still boy. Whatever had been ailing him, Daniel had gotten the impression that it was serious. Now, he was awake.
Daniel looked over at him. He didn't want to bother him, so he got right to the point. "Is Mr. Pheres here?"
