Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:team: echo

PB: Henry Cavill
CODENAME: Harbinger
TEAM: Echo
ROLE: Wildcard
POWERS:

Metallic Form : His number one power and the reason why people think of him as a 'tank' on most situations, he is able to transform all of his soft tissue into a form of organic steel with a similar density to tungsten. Naturally, in this form he is incredibly strong (he has been known to lift 20 tons without visible strain) and almost invulnerable to damage (most common metals shatter or flatten against him with viable force). In this state his muscles also don't produce fatigue toxins, so he is able to perform arduous or taxing feats with inhuman stamina as well. Also he can jump, like, insanely high. He has definitely full-court dunked as a party trick before. The longest he has been able to hold this form is three hours before it taxes his body too much and he reverts back to his baseline state, usually with a serious case of exhaustion and/or migraines. This is also an all-or-nothing power, meaning he must fully convert his body and it denies access to his other power.

Shapeshifting : It manifested months after his first ability, but is something that he can use at will when in his baseline state. He is able to completely alter himself to appear as anyone he has ever seen before, which is not an altogether comfortable feeling and is not instantaneous (it takes between a minute and three). His weight remains the same and his height can only be altered so much (no more than four inches), but for all intents and purposes he become a wholly different person in appearance when he uses this power. The longest he has been able to hold a new 'shape' was two hours and then he naturally reverts back an is usually pretty nauseous afterwards. If he is in a shifted form and needs to use his metallic form, he rapidly shifts back to his normal state and takes off an hour (minimum) of how long he can be in his metal skin. Exhausting himself in either power means he doesn't have access to the other.

Details: Winston "Sonny" McKenna is was a world-class photographer with the world on a string, in his mid-twenties with his dream job and a girl who had no business being with him. When his powers manifested, he went on the run (hard to stop a guy who can break a tank) and was successfully rogue for a year. When authorities finally caught him, things got bad and his actions caused his woman (who had went off-the-grid with him) to die. Offered death row or government service, he chose death row out of guilt and depression. Turns out he chose wrong or it was a rhetorical question. Never got a chance to ask. He's been with the program for a few years now and is one of their favorite stories to use about how it 'can turn a bad case around'.

So, I'd love lines for this handsome fella who has a redemption complex and a genuinely good moral compass. He can be dark and moody sometimes, but he generally tries to do the right thing. A mentor who helped him assimilate, training partners, maybe an ex who is on cordial terms. I'm thinking he's been in the Corps for a little over half a decade now, so there's room for new and established ties.

This is Dean, a handler from Alpha. He completely understands survivor's guilt because he was the last man standing when his unit was attacked in Afghanistan back in 2007. He's not the cuddliest person around, but he tends to care a lot more than he ever lets on. I'd love something!

Dean could totally be a mentor type! Sonny got in a couple brawls and learned how to keep his own because of his father being an ex-boxer, but he was never much of a fighter before the Ghost Corps. Someone that could help him learn actual combat (other than sink-or-swim field experience) and the ins and outs of a 'military' life would be great.

Plus they could have their own Morse Code of eyebrow raises, steely looks, grunts, and nose wrinkles. The Tough-But-They're-Actually-Nice-And-Caring Guys Cipher.

And they could play chess!

Hi there. This is Vanessa; she's on Bravo and has the power of vocally induced persuasion. As a result of this, she accidentally caused the death of a cheating ex-bf and once that happened she turned herself into the authorities and voluntarily stopped talking. She only uses her voice during missions. Her secondary power is the ability to place her thoughts into other's heads, which is how she communicates.

I'd love something :]

Hey! I love the character, so we should totally do something? Maybe she is the ex that remains on good terms with him? Like they made the terrible idea to try and start dating, but were both still dealing with their respective guilt and memories so things fell apart pretty quickly?

But after a period of time, they remained friends and hang out regularly? I could totally see him not using his voice around her, instead choosing to write things because it 'evens the field'. And that probably results in him leaving little doodles around for her to find in her quarters or where she likes to plant her flag.

I'm not sure she'd have been up to dating someone until maybe recently but if you want that to be something that happens in the game it could be? She's not been in the program but a year or two, and she's still healing psychologically but I'm down for that to happen in game. The doodling is adorable! :]

We'll go with the doodling and him maybe harboring a little crush on her, but doing nothing. Because 'go fight a small army' = "LET'S DO IT." and 'talk to cute girl' = "HAHAHA -runs into the sea-"

She's definitely one of his favorite people.

Metal form + Magnetism manipulation = totally badass combo, am I right? This one's on Alpha, but they'd live on the same floor, and she's been in the Corps for a long time. Divya's also one of those "do the right thing" moral compass people, maybe a little sunnier and optimistic, so I think they could get along. Training partners, perhaps?

Absolutely. I want them to practice a Cannonball Combo. Like, immediately. Where she hurls his metallic ass like an angry, man-shaped bullet into trouble. Also, she could totally charge him to draw in metallic objects. Big ones. Like cars. Or armored trucks.

And he will yell "Get Over Here!".

No matter how often he is asked not to.

Oh hell yeah! Make him go faster than a speeding bullet, even when he's not playing Superman. She'll even help make his dunks more impressive. Full court? How about two courts. I Believe I Can Fly plays in the background.

...though if he ever gets annoying about yelling that, she could also slap on a strip of scrap metal over his mouth like a piece of duct tape.

He might demand one court, but there is an INSANE amount of hang time. Enough for the full R. Kelly song and then "Ignition" to play when he actually lands the dunk. So, that they can fade immediately into the after party.

He'd rip it off and laugh about how that is actually hurt and required effort. He'll also probably have a lot of random nicknames pointing out her physical beauty. BECAUSE GORGEOUS.

And the crowd goes wild! Really, their talents are being wasted by being kept in the basement. They should be doing shows like the Harlem Globetrotters. Ghost Corps is doing it wrong.

She is gorgeous, 'cause Priyanka. But Divya's a goober. Her initial reaction to the nicknames: "Who, me?"

I have the Echo healer I posted about just a bit ago in the comm, and I have two Alphas! One would live on the same floor as him. The other practically lives in the handler office instead of her home like she's supposed to.

Blitz [info]smoothasglass is Alpha damage #3 and a pretty easy guy to get along with. If Winston's feeling broody, Luke would probably offer him a drink to help him get over it. I can guarantee he's asked him to do that full court dunk trick before, or some other similar silly display of powers, because life's too short and shitty to take things so seriously.

Leah [info]steelyeyed is something of a stone cold bitch filling the handler #1 spot. She's married to the job, pushes her supers pretty much to the breaking point, and sees them as weapons more than people, but she's not all bad. There are times she can even be a lot of fun. If you think she could somehow fit into that cordial ex line, I'd love to fill it for you, because I want her to have an ex in the program to feel especially awkward or frosty about, even if that ex is an agent. She's going to eventually end up with Backlash, so that could be added drama? But if not, that's totally cool, too!

You know DinkleBear is getting some lines.

Luke could totally be his drinking partner. And Sonny would have done the dunk, no questions asked, if enough whiskey was involved. I'm feeling that the BroDown HoeDown is going to be a real thing involving some cross-team drinking and shenanigans.

She is awesome and scary. I like that whole thing. The lot of it.

Allll of them. ♥

Enough whiskey is always involved when it comes to Luke. They've got lobbies in their living areas, those can totally be converted into drinking and poker zones.

Awesome! So exes are a go?

Eloise here is a handler for Bravo, but she's been with the Corps for several years now. Daughter of a missionary and a Somali refugee, born & raised in Kenya, Harvard educated, and originally dealt in CoveOps for the US DOD before she came to the Corps. Prioritizes national security and civilian protection above all else, so is mom-friend cinnamon roll so long as everyone is doing what they're suppose to be doing. Will eviscerate anyone who's not.

The character is spectacular, obviously. So, anything you want.

I'd love for her to have been the one to teach him some basic spycraft: basically how to lie better, what not do when undercover, and the like. Because his shapeshifting could result in him being in some pretty dangerous situations when the mission calls for a lighter hand.

👌✔✔👌👌 👌 💯 👌 loves it. Between his photography skills and his shape shifting A+ spy material. Lesson #1 is observation is half the battle and you can't be a acclaimed artist if you don't already know how to observe. Would have gotten him a new camera and told him to start photographing again for starters.

Another Member of the Survivor's Guilt club here. Former soldier who accidently caused the deaths of his unit in Afghanistan in 09 thanks to his then undiscovered powers. He's able to mimic powers (everything except shapeshifting), so he might be very comfortable around Winston to not be able to leech. He might be able to help him train (we can work that out) or even just if Winston's up for a Brodown Hoedown. Preston is quiet and standoffish until he opens up to people. He'll be fairly new to Ghost Corps but he's been in a similar program in the UK for the past seven years.

Oh yeah. Sonny is always down for some sparring and training. He might have been strong-armed into the program (pun intended), but he takes what he does seriously. So he's always trying to make himself better and better. They made him a soldier, he'll make himself a warrior, blah blah blah inspirational rhetoric.

Brodown Hoedown. It is a real thing and we'll make it happen. But Sonny, despite his often distant personality and such, would probably make Preston feel as much at home as he could. Even if it's just offering him a copy of the Art of War.

Totally! He's spent a good portion of his 'service' reading philosophy and the like, so he'd also be interested in her "hunger" and ways that might help her deal with it.

Plus, he makes a mean huevos rancheros.

So far I have it that she's been brought on board by ~rightmove, also her handler, who negotiated a deal for her so she feels like she owes him big time. I'm thinking maybe between him and Sonny, they might be the only two who know about the "hunger" since I imagine it's something Ana would feel very uneasy about.

Ha! She would appreciate that a lot. All the training and missions probably take a lot out of them all, and she probably uses other things to offset the "hunger" like feeding her actual appetite, lol

Oooo. I see there being some light tension between her handler and him, so two people who severely dislike each other and both protect her secret could be an interesting drama dynamic. He's good at keeping secrets and his word is his absolute bond.

He loves any excuse for eggs and chorizo, so he would definitely start making them any chance he got.

Oh, he absolutely sees ZERO women in the program that need is help. Sometimes it's cathartic for him to use the excuse to snatch someone off the ground. And other times he might be saving some dude from all sorts of hell he wasn't prepared for.

Cute doesn't mean defenseless. So, case-by-case he's either being selfish or altruistic when it comes to Protector Mode.
