Who: Orion & Regulus Where: Grimmauld Place What: Conversation with Daddy When: Sat 23rd July Rating: TBD Status: Incomplete | Closed
Regulus had always been sure about his parent's love, at least until Sirius had been disowned. His mother's rage at her eldest hadn't been as surprising considering the fighting and squabbling the pair had been doing for so long, but his father's inaction, the way he hadn't stepped in to defuse the situation or even condemned it after the fact had made him begin to doubt.
He'd always treated the man with the respect and deference he demanded, not able to stand up to either his mum or dad the same way that Sirius could; he'd never seen himself as that brave, or maybe he just couldn't bring himself to cause so much disruption and hurt his parents that way.
When he'd become a Death Eater, Marked and everything and one of the youngest to be accepted, his parents had been proud. They had always taught their boys the importance of blood purity and the dangers of diluting that purity with blood from Muggle families, the dangers that these people could pose to the fragile secrecy of their world. Regulus hadn't considered that what he saw as a political issue could be taken to the extreme of exterminating people as though they were less than animal.
He knew he was lucky that he was so good with charms because he woke up most nights now clutching at his throat with a hard gasp as his mind brought him back to that burning house, the screaming and the stink of it. He was tired all the time and he wasn't eating much, but that wasn't really a departure from things as usual.
As part of his deference, Regulus usually avoided intruding on his father's time, but his dad had expressed a desire to speak with him and he found himself in front of the study door, knocking at it three times and waiting to be told he could enter.
