Ned wasn't bothered that Sookie wanted to stay close. He honestly couldn't blame her, he'd probably have done the same if it were the Pie Hole. He was careful working around her though, wearing gloves most of the time and making sure to 'ripen' his fruit before bringing it to the bakery. He wasn't sure why but he still felt like he needed to keep it under wraps.
He only heard bits of the conversation happening at the door but he'd heard someone come in and a mention of coffee so he got a pot started. Warming up some water too in case Sookie wanted some of her decaf tea or a cocoa.
Once done he set aside a cup for himself and then put the pot on a tray with some milk, sugar and a mug. "Someone need coffee?" he asked, stepping out of the kitchen.
