Mary didn't really know what was going on. There had been the birthday greetings and a nice breakfast but there was no way that was all Stevie could have planned and then he'd disappeared for a while. She did her best to relax and enjoy her time alone but she didn't always do so well alone anymore. She got antsy and worried too much, checking for the important names in her phone more often that she wanted to think about. Not that she let him really know that.
She was still double checking her salts, iron bar in one hand, when she heard the knock at the door. She wasn't sure how much there really was to be afraid of but she wasn't going to take that risk, not when her dad said there was danger. With her everything on edge she wasn't about to take risk with the door and even though she smiled to herself a little bit seeing her husband through the peep hole, she spoke loudly before opening the door, "What was the first thing we did when we got home after the wedding?"
