He'd never been in so much pain in his life. Even during the transition in the chamber, he didn't hurt as much as he did right then. It was like every single cell in his body was on fire and he screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground and curling up in a ball in an attempt to get the pain to stop. After just a moment, he passed out from the pain, though to anyone that found him it was obvious he was actually alive. Breathing and warm. Blood pumping through his body. He just needed time to recover.

JR was glad of the armor Shepard had provided early on in the fighting. The stuff had saved his life more than once since the invasion began, and even now during the mop up it had absorbed a few hits that would have killed him if he'd been unarmored. Too bad the stuff hadn't been around during the war, it would have saved a lot of lives.

He was clearing buildings of their alien intruders, room by room and floor by floor. Part of him just wanted to blow the buildings and crush anything inside, but they didn't have enough explosives for that anyway and at least this method would leave the city more or less intact.

A noise from across the hall roused him from his musings and he raised the barrel of his weapon to a firing position as he moved to investigate.

	It didn't take long for him to start to slowly regain consciousness. Though the pain was still there, it was more of a dull ache. He let out a groan as everything flooded in and he could start to make sense of his surroundings. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Of all the things JR expected to find, Steve Rogers was not one of them. He continued sweeping the room long enough to be sure there weren't any bad guys waiting to ambush him before slinging his rifle and moving toward the other man.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" The only question was figuring out which Rogers it was. He was pretty sure it wasn't Stevie, the haircut and body language were all wrong, which left Captain America himself. JR just wasn't sure which vintage he was dealing with.

	"Shit." Steve managed that word at least. He had no idea what was going on or how he'd gotten there. He groaned as he started to sit up, noticing he was wearing his uniform. "Depends where here is." "Sorry." JR was slightly sheepish since the man was obviously dealing with at least a nasty headache. "It was the quickest way of figuring out which one of you I was dealing with. You're about a mile out from downtown, we took out the Reapers about a week ago and some of us have been doing mop-up ever since to make sure they're all gone. Most of them are, but there are still stragglers"

He peered back at the other man. "You're supposed to be dead. They brought your shield back to Micha and everything."

"You were dead." JR told him firmly. "Your name was gone from the phone list and everything. That was weeks ago."

He helped the other man up. "As for where she is, your guess is as good as mine. Ever since you died she's been a one woman killing machine, though she did volunteer to help get rid of one of the big ones that fell on the beach. From what I've seen she pauses just long enough to eat and get a few hours sleep then she's back out there looking for aliens to kill."

	JR raised a skeptical eyebrow at the other man's movements. He was clearly not at 100%, though considering he'd been dead until very recently he was doing pretty damn well. "She's pretty picky about what coms she'll respond to since everything went down." He pointed out. "We can check the beach but you might want to see if Kytana knows where she is." 	Steve caught the phone and opened a broadcast, trying to find Micha. He didn't want to wait. Her going on a murderous rampage, even against the bad guys, was a very bad thing. Maybe he could calm her down. (Reply to this) (Parent)
