This island can be something of a miserable place, so I often feel that we should take the excuse to have a little frivolity when the opportunity arises.

I don't normally celebrate Purim, but it is tomorrow night, apparently. One of the noisiest, happiest, drunkest holidays you're likely to come across. I would say it's close to our version of Halloween, except it's more comedy than horror. Think funny costumes, not scary ones. Think a hell of a lot of food and alcohol. And anything that makes a noise... party poppers, karaoke, random percussion...

Come to the pub tomorrow night. Put on a ridiculous outfit. Drink. Eat. Make too much noise just because I told you so. It'll be a hoot. You don't have to be Jewish, obviously. There won't be anything religious about it. Everyone's welcome.
