Tony tried to get in a spot where he could get everyone's attention. He was usually better at press conferences. He could pile on the charm and bullshit his way through. This was totally different, though. This was a situation where Captain America would have been the perfect person in charge and he'd know exactly the right thing to say. Either him, or Fury. Both of them were good at rallying the troops. Knew exactly what it would take to make sure that everybody was ready to fight. Tony closed his eyes for a moment and tried to channel them. To get inside Cap's head so he'd know what to do. He opened his eyes and cleared his throat. "Can I have everyone's attention?" He ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm not going to sit here and make some grand speech about how we're going to be going in there to rescue the people we love. The truth of the matter is, we have no clue what we're walking into here. This is most likely a trap. There's no doubt about it. Whoever decided to lock away these people knew that the rest of us wouldn't just sit back and let it happen. It's going to be dangerous. Doesn't change the fact that whoever did this locked up not only my mother, and my girlfriend, but also our roommate. Waking up to a completely empty apartment after getting used to having two women around is a really creepy feeling. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here that had people turn up missing. People that are locked away in there that we care about. I'm going in there and I am going to do everything I can to help as many people as I can. I appreciate every one of you for showing up and I know that you're not here for me. You're here for them. I just want you to know that....even being me, I understand that my chances of being able to help them on my own are, as my dad used to say, slim to none and slim left town." He chuckled a little, then cleared his throat. "If you know how to pick locks, that's great. If you have any weapons, I'd say bring them along. There's some kind of field that is making it hard to read exactly what's going on in there. Some kind of interference. JARVIS already picked up that I wouldn't be able to use the armor because of it. Any kind of high tech weapons probably won't work, but I'm sure regular pistols and the like should be fine. "Kytana and I have some flash grenades that'll help with the distraction of there's any kind of security force that's going to try to stop us. So we'll have that at least. Right now, the only plan of attack is to head straight in and do what we can to get people out. If anybody else has any suggestions I would gladly hear them now. Otherwise, we head out toward the prison, or whatever it is, in 30 minutes." Tony looked at Kytana and then at everyone else. "Any questions?" |
