Who: Zu and Colt
Where: Starting in the food court - Bucky's bar
What: Taking a break from worrying
When: Early afternoon
Rating: Middelish?
Open: No
Status: Unfinished

She had asked Colt to meet at Bucky's bar. Living through times of danger was how she had grown up. It would always catch up with her. She was tired of it. But it was nothing that she could allow to devastate her or dominate her life. So, she tried to relax and, well, do things young women did. Like asking cute boys to meet them for a coffee. That's what she had done.

Zu had slipped behind the counter. As so often, Bucky had gone for a wander and the bar and the freshly made coffee in the hands of potential customers. "What can I get you?" she asked with a bright smile as she saw Colt approaching. She was wearing a cute wide summer dress with yellow and pink flowers. The dress always made her a feel a little sunnier. Dressing nicely had always made the harder times seem a little brighter.

"Now if that ain't the nicest thing I've heard? Pretty girl thinkin' I'm charmin'." He smiled at that, nodding at her question. He wasn't as picky as he could have been, especially after Vegas and New York where he'd been able to get every little expensive thing his heart had ever desired. Maybe he needed to drink more, to really make the effort to find out what he liked now that there wasn't a price tag attached, but that just sounded like a bad idea. He didn't need more spirits thinking it was a good opportunity to judge him, or worse, he didn't need to find out how poorly his drunken telepathy had gotten since he hadn't taken the time to practice much. Still, a drink with Zu never hurt.

"Though maybe you should be thinkin' less of me and my talented tongue. My liver ain't gonna thank me if we keep indulgin' maybe we oughta switch to water or somethin' for the next one." He smiled again, watching her move. This one a little more playful than the last. It was hard to not keep pushing, to see how far he could get since she seemed to like him and his company, but he knew being a little more measured was better at least for now. If things changed, if death became more of a possibility, then maybe he would show up at her door with a bottle of something for them to share as the station burned. They weren't there yet so he could draw out the fun of flirtation for a while.

The blush spread even wider across Zu's face. She had to contain a giggle. The young woman refused to be that kind of girl. Colt made that hard. "I have to admit your tongue is far harder to resist than your liver," she said and immediately regretted it. That was one awkward sentence. Thankfully, her back was turned to Colt as she walked to her place behind the bar. There was a hint of a grimace as she scolded herself. He must think her silly now.

"Uhm, so..." She wanted to move away from the topic but her tongue got stuck. She tried to come up with another topic. Her eyes fell on the alcohol. "Have you tried any drink that does not come from earth yet?" By now, she was pulling a glass and bottles from the shelf and was walking back to the portal.

"You haven't seen my liver, it's freakin' adorable, far as livers go. Though maybe not as irresistible as the rest of me, guess it depends on whatcha like best." He said quickly. He'd grown up learning how to make smooth recoveries, he'd witnessed his mother's hot and cold readings and had watched her come back from the most uncomfortable or awkward moments. It had been a skill he'd picked up on fairly quickly and now it was a reflex for him as much as breathing was. It was nothing for him to throw her a bit of a lifeline and bring things back around.

"'Haven't." He said, watching her move. "Not to bring things back to my liver an all, but is it safe? I mean, as safe as alcohol is. I don't think I'd look near as irresistible if I were bright blue with green spots, or whatever else it could do to me."

Suzume was glad for the quick recovery and smiled at Cole in thanks. She put the drinks onto the counter of the coffee shop and began to pour a glass for Colt. "I think some stuff will knock you right off your feet," she answered his question. The image of him going through a glass of Asgardian hard liquor as quickly as he did with whiskey. Her Papa would surely enjoy it. "But there are only a few drinks I know that are truly harmful to humans."

"See, now anybody only half as nice as you woulda said that in a kinda threatin' way. Like them fellers who go on about bein' able to kill people with their little fingers. Not you though. You say that and I think 'she's gonna look out for me, make sure I don't get a glass of somethin' I shouldn't'. Not enough trustworthy people in the world, or, well, I guess I can't really say that can I? I can't even say station given how nice everybody has been to me." Colt said, watching her pour.

He wasn't entirely talking nonsense. He didn't trust a great many people, that had come about thanks to his ability to see into the minds of others and know when someone was planning to do harm even when they gave him sweet smiles. Zu though, he felt like he didn't have to worry about her much. She might have a power he didn't fully understand and a family that was plainly beyond him, but there was nothing to her that seemed malicious. Maybe that should have made him look deeper, to reach inside her mind and really figure out what was going on, but that felt wrong when she had been nothing but kind and considerate.
