At Bryn's suggestion, Dan glanced over at Astrid, who had picked Hródolf up to keep him out of the way. She shrugged, resigned to the fact that her little boy was somewhat hyper and so he would be up for a little while longer. [Cheeky little wolf,] she told her son, and let him practice braiding her hair while she held him and made her mam's tea.
Apparently off story-telling duties for the time being, Dan went over to the table to lift his coffee and was surprised to find that it was still quite hot. He took a mouthful, and decided that since everyone was here, he might as well get on with why he'd asked to talk to them.
"So, Brenna and I have been talking," he began, mostly talking to Bryn, "and I realize that I don't know a lot of your traditions so I don't know if I'm doing this the right way or not. But I love Brenna, and... I can't imagine a life here without her in it any more. So I'm asking for your permission to marry her. Please."
