The pause was slightly frustrating, but it also felt quite needed. He had a second to catch his breath and let his heart calm down from the way it pounded as though he was running a marathon. And this definitely was the marathon, not a sprint to a finish line. Slow, eager, enduring.
But then she closed her eyes like that, silently thinking, and rather than press his lips to her again, or attempting to make any further progress, he continued the pause with her. He watched her expression curiously. He dreaded the thought that she might have changed her mind, that she might say that it was enough for tonight. Of course he wouldn't push, but oh God... he was sure he'd have to go and take a swim in the evening sea to have any chance of cooling off again.
And then all at once she was moving. He gave a soft whimper, inching forward ever so slightly to follow her movement, and hopeful that she wouldn't continue slipping away too far. She definitely didn't, and suddenly the look on her face had changed from thoughtful to something that could only be described as determination. He felt his knees tremble, and just the lip between her teeth had him giving another soft sound. For someone who was usually exceptionally verbose, he really couldn't summon up any words beyond the little sounds. His head was spinning.
