Edward's hand had paused at her collarbone where he could feel her pulse fluttering away beneath the soft skin, and feel the rise and fall of her chest just below. He had paused to consider - apparently he still had enough blood left in his brain to consider - whether she would welcome a further advance than simply a kiss. As fevered as it was, one had to be quite careful with women. One push too far and they could curl up and recoil completely, like a startled little creature. Marian didn't seem the sort, though.
Well, he needn't have concerned himself, because he had no sooner started to ponder these questions than he had his answer. He felt her start to move, but even so he found himself surprised when she landed herself firmly into his lap. Very pleasantly surprised indeed.
The left arm pulled her in closer to him instinctively, holding her firmly in palce in case she had any doubt that he approved of her decision. He really couldn't help the low moan of pleasure he gave against her kiss. He was sure that the previously mentioned blood had very quickly redirected with this new bodily contact.
