Edward gave a low, short laugh at her teasing. "I would pay more attention to what you hear in my words rather than what you see in my eyes, if I were you," he told her. "One of them offers only shadows, and the other isn't even mine. Who knows what you might see there?" he reminded her, a wry smile playing on his lips showing that he wasn't upset by it. It was rather an amusing thought, really.
He took a sharp intake of breath as her fingers moved and a very slight concern flickered across his face as he glanced at her hand for a moment. He didn't understand why she wasn't repulsed. But her words quickly distracted him, and he was looking at her again. "Yes, I suppose it had better be you," he smiled, unable to even pretend that that would be a disappointment to him. "You would let me ride your own horse?" he asked, with a little surprise. "My... that is trust."
Oh, he enjoyed the look on her face as he touched her cheek. There was no doubting that it was a very welcome touch, she didn't disguise it from him and he was glad of it. He moved a little closer, almost daring to touch her lips. It was all he could think of - truthfully, he'd been thinking of little else for days, but now all he would have to do would be to lean forward a little more. "Yes, certainly. You radiate heat."
