Marian grinned at him, but her hands now free she wasn't sure what to do with them. "The sheriff tried to paint me to be. There was a number of times he besmirched the Nightwatchman name. So people would run and hide. Or tell a guard when the saw me. That was the trouble of no one knowing it was me. But also, I stayed out of the dungeon." It was almost natural for her to perch one of her arms on the back of the couch, bent at the elbow so that her hand could prop up her cheek. It allowed her to be turned more toward him. And might allow for more touching later. "But tell me about this duel. I've only seen one." And it had been rather ridiculous with how the Sheriff had set it up.
She shifted her legs just a little, so that both knees were touching his left leg. One at the side of his thigh, and the other just brushing the top. But she had moved her feet so that they were tucked closer against her backside, almost as if they were chilly. Which couldn't be farther from the truth, but it seemed natural. Or she hoped. "It is difficult to accept any of it as outdoor space. Besides beyond the glass of course." Her smile grew just a little. "Have you ever taken a ride, and it suddenly start raining, and where most people would kick up the horse's steps, you slowed them down and just..." Rather than explain, Marian tipped her head back as if the sky had just opened up above her, and spread her arms slightly with her palms up.
