Who? Ernest & Lucy Where? Ernest's apartment. What? When? BACKDATED: After their texts (June 30th) Rating? Low Open? To Charlie, otherwise ask first.
It was such a simple thing really, but since Ernest had brought the cats over from Cuba he was feeling a lot more comfortable and relaxed in his own home. He had never heard of therapy pets, and he would have no idea that they were having a similar effect on his wellbeing. All he knew was that they calmed him down when he was feeling 'up', and they cheered him a little when he was feeling 'down'.
As for Lucy, he felt terrible about the whole thing. Sure, at first her name had been a very distant memory, but when Kat had explained his significance in her life, he should have acted immediately. Instead, he'd continued to be selfish and think only of his own troubles and worries.
But he understood now. He was the one in Lucy's shoes, desperate for someone he loved to acknowledge him, to understand, to remember him. At least he had the opportunity to rebuild a relationship with Abi. It was harder to get someone to act like your parent again. He saw the way it hurt Charlie. He could scarcely believe that anyone would miss him like that, but he could at least be kind to the girl. If nothing else, he owed it to Kat.
So, once she'd agreed to come over, Ernest quickly cleared away his books and put on a pot of coffee for them. He even arranged a selection of cookies on a plate in case she fancied something sweet.
