Who: Human Jake and Aaron
When: Saturday, lunchtime-ish
What: Catching up
Where: Dojo to start
Jake had had it drummed into him when he'd been in the VA hospital that he shouldn't do anything that could lead to him getting a cold or a 'flu or anything that could lead to respiratory infections, because he didn't have as much control over his lungs any more and coughing would be more difficult and it could be really bad for him blah blah blah.
So naturally, he was out exploring in the cold perma-dawn while it snowed all round him. Being told about stuff happening was all well and good, but Jake needed to see it to get to grips with things and work everything out in his head. At least the snow wasn't sticking, which was good; seeing the ground was pretty useful when you needed wheels to get about. And he had a coat and a hat on, and his older self had thrown a blanket at him just as he was leaving the Temple so it was currently wrapped round his legs. So that was okay.
What wasn't okay was that Mitchell's was gone. Not just damaged or dealing with broken windows, but gone. The front door should have been where he was, but there was just a pile of scorched bricks off to one side, and part of a wall at the back. A lump of what had to have been a bit of the roof lay in front of him, but a massive fire (or explosion?) and then almost 2 years of constant winter had destroyed the rest of the place, and the surrounding buildings.
Pushing away comparisons with his time in Venezuela, Jake spun his chair round and headed towards the dojo instead. He had to detour a couple times, and spotted a handful of Na'vi arrowheads along the way. He carefully picked them up - he'd watched his Na'vi self make arrowheads any number of times, and he knew just how sharp they were, never mind the poisons they might have been dipped in - and kept them in his lap. Eventually, he got close to the dojo, but couldn't get to the door. The road had been torn up, with a massive crack right across it, surrounded by huge chunks of brickwork and road surface littered everywhere. Jake wasn't yet strong enough with the Force to be able to clear the chunks away properly, but he moved what he could. It still wouldn't let him get to the dojo. "Aaron! You in?" he yelled through cupped hands, and then rubbed his hands together to warm them up as he waited for a reply.
