Tom Sully Jr. ([info]tom_jr) wrote in [info]spinningcompass,
Tom nodded, and placed the shell down. The faint sound of the man's voice stopped, so that much worked. Then he picked it up again and the voice continued. Okay, cool. Then he pointed up to the surface and moved out from the ladder before letting himself float up to the surface, kicking every so often to stop himself drifting away from the side.

Once he broke the surface, he put the rebreather down at the side of the pool and listened. It was very faint, but he could just about make it out. He could probably listen to it in the bath if he wanted to hear it better. And then he'd be able to write it all down, too, so he could really work on it and find out what the red star was. A comet, maybe? But why would the other stars move? He'd have to work on it. He could finally get back to doing something.
