He awoke in a sweat, eyes flying open to stare up at the ceiling before he looked around the dark room. Off on a dresser to the far side of the room a digital clock read 5:07 AM in a dim green light. The rest of the room seemed to be waiting for dawn when the sun would blaze through the curtains to herald in a new morning. Thor's chest rose and felt in hastened breath as he grabbed the sheets, then drew one hand over his damp brow. Closing his eyes only forced in images of the nightmare. This had gone on for far too long but he had no way to go and fix it, to follow the path his heart and soul knew he must take. He was trapped, shackled by the sandy beach and surrounding ocean of the island. Never would he solve the problem that lingered in the back of his mind and that caused him even more pain.
Getting out of bed, Thor drew on a t-shirt and a pair of sweat pants before leaving the room with only a glance back to the bed. No. It was time to wake up.
Moving down the stairs of the home the god slipped into a pull-over hoodie. At the bottom of the steps, just before the door, he stepped into a pair of sneakers and laced them up. Then he left without a word to Kat--though he was never really sure if she was home or out with that guy anymore. As long as she was happy, he supposed. The door clicked shut and was locked with a key, which Thor shoved in his pocket, before taking off down the front path and onto the sidewalk. It was cool out, incredibly brisk, and the sweat he hadn't bothered to wipe away until now felt refreshingly chill on his flesh. He wished he had someone to talk to about all of this but he wondered what it would matter. There was nothing to be done about it. He could not go home. He could not go to the prison cells and caverns. He could not take his concerns before his father, before a council, or even before his friends. A thought crossed his mind to talk to his brother...but Thor wasn't so sure Loki would have a solution, either. Perhaps, not one he would have liked anyway.
Footsteps keeping an even rhythm on the pavement Thor just kept on jogging into the morning, both trying to solve his problem and forget about it all at once.
