Two years had passed since he initially left, but it had been just under a year since Akiyama had set foot in Japan again. Nobody knew that, since had hadn't told anybody, but he'd gone back last year for his mother's death anniversary, to lay flowers on her grave and pay his respects. In two days, it would be the anniversary yet again, and he was on a plane which would take him there once more. He was considering staying put for awhile this time; while he was getting a lot out of his time away, it was starting to feel like he'd been gone long enough. God only knew what had gone on with the Liar Game in his absence (he hadn't gotten the sense that it was done when he met the organizer), but at least Kanzaki Nao had decided to withdraw. It was what had freed him enough to pack up and go, in the first place.
Closing his eyes, Akiyama leaned his head back on the seat. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought of her the last couple of years. After all, it was as the organizer had said: she'd saved him. But even so, that only went so far-- she'd given him a purpose, yet it was only a temporary one. He'd been trying to find a permanent goal ever since. While he still wasn't quite there, he finally had some ideas, which was more than he could say for the time before he'd been dragged into her life. Perhaps, he should give some of those ideas a try now.
Suddenly, the plane hit more turbulence than Akiyama had ever felt, and before he could even open his eyes, he'd been shaken out of his seat and onto the floor. Wincing at the impact, he was startled to find that he was sitting on a street. But... there had been no crash, and even if there had been, he wouldn't simply be on his ass on a road somewhere.
Where was he?!
Frowning, Akiyama got to his feet and looked around.
