The Desert Boy and the Ocean
(sorry for two posts after each other. I couldn't resist)
Who: Luke and open
What: Desert boy Luke explores the beach and ocean
Where: The beach
When: Friday afternoon
warnings: none
Luke had been to many more places now since leaving Tattooine, and had seen a wide array of different environments in his travels. Even so, there was never anything that could compare to seeing a large sea or ocean. There was always a sense of awe and wonder that came to him when he stood on a beach like this, watching the pounding waves. He'd had to come and see and experience it for a bit after he'd heard it was here.
He recalled his time on Yavin IV, the first place he'd spent a long time on since leaving home. There were hidden streams and pools in the jungle, and he had found himself drawn to going to them during his off time. Leia had made sure he learned to swim, not only for fun reasons, but to make sure he didn't drown if he got caught in a watery environment during a mission. He recalled the first time he was caught in a rainstorm and had just stood there getting soaked for a few moments, overwhelmed by so much water.
Luke was glad that a pair of shorts he could use for swimming had shown up amongst the various clothes and other items that apparently had been sent here with him. He left his robe and towel on the sand and waded in, relishing the feeling of the liquid surrounding and supporting him. Growing up, he'd never been submerged in water, washing had to be done with just enough water to do the job without wasting any. Going swimming for the first time had been quite an experience for him.
THe only thing he regretted was that he wasn't sharing it with Ben and Mara. He could easily imagine Ben playing in the surf, or wading out a bit holding him and helping him to swim, and lying on the beach or getting a little playful in the water with Mara, enchanted by her beautiful, swimsuit clad form and the way her red hair shone and glistened when it was wet in the sun. He only hoped that he could return home before too long, and that they could just be together for a while as a family, albeit one tied in with leading the Order, before anything else decided to happen in the Galaxy.
Luke wished a Jedi breather had been available; he thought he'd have liked going deeper under. But even so, he could submerge, open his eyes and kick along for a while, sometimes employing a few Jedi breathing techniques to stay under a little longer than normal. When he popped back up, he looked around, catching glimpses of others who were on the beach. At least it wasn't overcrowded like how he'd heard resort planets back home could get.
